There is a global shortage of software developers which is only likely to get worse as the tech industry continues to grow and companies become more and
more digital. This is a chance for young South Africans to fundamentally change the outlook on the rest of their life.

Project Summary
Software development and programming skills offer a gateway to an improved life for
many young South Africans. For relatively little outlay we will be able to provide people
with the skills to start a new career and change the rest of their lives.
We will provide the hardware required (laptops, headphones etc.) as well as the location
with a high-speed internet connection. The courses will be provided over the course of the
first 6 months. They will be held as remote-online coding bootcamps with a number of
partner organisations to give all participants an introduction to programming and dive in
depth to:
* HTML
* CSS
* Javascript
* React
This will provide them with the foundation to undertake their first practical experience in
the form of a 6 month internship placement. We will use our partners and network to
support them with this. They should be ready to start their job as a junior developer after
our one year program.
What is funding used for?
The funding for this project will go towards a monthly stipend to enable young people to participate in the course without having financial
difficulties. It will also go towards the hardware needed to complete the course – which all participants will be able to purchase at a discount
at the end of the year. It will go towards the infrastructure (high speed internet) and ofcourse towards the course materials. We would like to
ensure that a minimum of 5 people – primarily women will be able to complete the pilot project. However – we would have capacity for up to
10 people so your contributions and support are much appreciated!
